With the cost of Sof/Lep being $100K+ and insurance companies now
disallowing use of the drugs unless you're near liver failure, I'm
seriously looking at an "out of country" experience.

Has anyone here had gone that route and what would your recommendations
be?

Thanks for reading in,

I don't know about going to another country, but have you tried AbbieVie?
http://www.abbvie.com/

They might be able to direct you to the right places for financial help. I
would explore any and all options within the States before looking outside,
although I don't blame you. I'm thoroughly disgusted with the greed.

Thanks Thip. I too would prefer to stay within the states, but $94K
for Harvoni, $84K for Solvaldi are *quite* a barrier to entry.
Gilead's financial assistance ends at 25% of list price according to
their web site.

With the Indian patent agency declining to allow Gilead exclusivity, it
paves the way for generics to flood the landscape and they're going to
market to developing countries.

Once I figure it out, I'll post back here and let you know how it goes.

Good luck and please do post back. I had a friend--since deceased--who was
seriously considering going to India for a liver transplant. According to
him, he could buy a liver for $25,000 and his father was willing to foot the
bill. I thought it was a screwy idea but I sure understood his desperation.

If you're out of options for treatment here in the US, by whatever means necessary, paying about $320 (19,900 rupees) per 28 pills as opposed to $32,000 per 28 is worth investigating. How Gilead can make non exclusive agreements with Indian generic makers allowing it be sold there for $10/per while milking US patients out of over $1,100 per pill makes one wonder. Just makes no sense. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate their wanting to recover the cost of development and a bit of profit but come on now. 'It's the end of the world as you know it.' (REM)

Someone could make a bundle black marketing those things.
